Copper Equipment
Copper has become a main stay in many of today's high powered electric arc furnaces. Water cooled equipment is being made of this highly conductive thermal material not only in traditional areas of electric arc furnaces, but also in furnace roofs. The thermal flux rates of Copper material versus Steel allows for a much faster heat transfer and lower heat differentials between the hot face of the pipe and the inside cold face. This smaller heat differential does not create the thermal stress on the pipe. The net result, is less expansion and contraction differences between the two surfaces. Stress cracks and steel and oxygen washes on panels are reduced. |

With power input into furnace increasing and the need to reduce downtime, copper sidewall and roof panels become economic viable solutions to those companies on the fast track. AmeriFab, Inc. provides a number of options for copper equipment. Each solution is geared individually to your unique operating environment and needs. Through the use of various pipe sizes and types, water cooled copper panels can be developed to reduce downtime from thermal overloads, oxygen washes, steels washes. Materials will vary from the standard 2 1/2" pipe, a pipe with extruded fins, to a 2" tube to create very high water velocities. | ||
